Q Prop
The new 5 blade special skew
propellers are the result of over 2 years of development work and
thousands of tests. They have been designed to reduce level of noise,
while maintaining the exceptional efficiency of the old 4 blade
Side-Power propellers. This goal was achieved, and Side-Power even chose to
make them a little bit more aggressive on some models, increasing the
thrust on some thrusters about 5%.
Details:
- Noise reductions of up to 75% measured in controlled environments
- The expected and tested normal noise reduction in “average installations” 20-40%
- Will be delivered on all Side-Power models except the SP550
- Upgrade kits will become available for most “SP” series thrusters with special adaptors

Control Cables
A main circuit breaker must always be installed for the thruster. Side-Power's circuit breaker is specially designed for this kind of power supply avoiding a noticeable voltage drop.

Fuse Holder
Side-Power manufactures fuse holders that are engineered to minimize voltage drop and heating while saving pace. Made for ANL type fuses in high current applications, that accept double cables with heavy terminals. The fuse holder is also available with a protective cover. We supply ANL fuses in sizes to match all of our thrusters.

Automatic Main Switch
“Safe”
and “User friendly” are descriptions which have always been dif?cult to
combine when designing a product. Sleipner are therefore proud to
introduce a new Side-Power Automatic Main Switch / Fuse combination
which manages to incorporate both improved safety and user
friendliness.
For safety reasons electric thrusters must have
a fuse and a main switch / circuit breaker in the main power feed
circuit. When there is an abnormal current consumption in the circuit
the fuse will blow, but situations can arise when the fuse will not
blow and it becomes necessary, for the safety of the crew, boat and
those around, to shut down the main power to the thruster. The problem
is that in most cases the main power switch / circuit breaker is a
manual switch located in the bilge, technical room or even the engine
room so that you will have to leave the control position to shut it
off. Even boats with remote-controlled main breakers might not be easy
to shut down either. This because these breakers often support more
than just the thruster so that shutting it down will also shut down
other systems that you might need to be operational.
Many
boat owners may not take the time to read manuals and learn about their
boat and equipment as well as they should. So they might not know what
to shut off in case of a problem. The main switch is fast and easy to
shut off without leaving the steering position simply by pushing the
OFF on the control panel, which should be the logic thing to do in a
problem situation – even for those not very familiar with the
equipment. It is also very common to forget to shut off their main
switches when leaving the boat. As the Side-Power control panels have
an Auto-Off function, the main switch will automatically shut off also
and this problem is gone. With the new Side-Power Automatic Main
Switch / Fuse product installed the boats thruster system has ultimate
safety and maximum user friendliness.

Stern Thruster Kit
These transom-mounted tunnels are meticulously designed to enhance the performance of the thruster. Manufactured in fibreglass, they are extremely strong and durable. The complete installation is very easy and meets the high Side-Power standards. The additional cowls make it possible to allow a stern thruster installation in boats with shallow draft or obstructions on the stern.

Serial-Parallel Switchbox
This switch box enables the installation of 24V thrusters in boats with a 12V system. With an additional 12V battery, you supply 24V for the thrusters operation, while all batteries are charged by your normal 12V system when the thruster is not running. The reliability of this fully automatic system has been proven in hundreds of boats over many years.

Tunnels
GRP tunnels are available in several lengths for each thruster model. They are purposely built for our thrusters and provide ultimate strength, accuracy and osmosis protection to ensure an easy and safe thruster installation. The wall thickness is adapted to each thruster's power and boat size. We also offer a selection of aluminium and steel tunnels.
