Profurl Boom Sail Furlers

Designed to reef or furl your mainsail, the ProFurl in-boom
system provides safe reefing for your mainsail from the cockpit. The
main halyard and the reefing line can also be operated from the cockpit.
Hoisting
the mainsail is made easy: just turn the boat into the wind, release
the furling line and pull on the halyard. Reefing or furling is just as
easy: simply control the tension on the halyard and pull the furling
line. Thanks to a number of patented design features, controlling your
mainsail is a smooth operation.
ProFurl now offers a new model of in boom furler with the MK 4, for monohulls from 45 to 60 ft LOA, or multihulls from 40 to 50 ft LOA. The ProFurl MK 4 furling boom is a semi-custom product. It can be delivered upon request either painted to customers specifications, or silver anodised. The system is available for the following maximum dimensions;
- P length (luff): 20 m (66’ 6””)·
- E length (foot): 7 m (22’ 6”)
Simple furling drum
The furling drum is located at the forward end of the boom (patented), requiring only one block at the mast foot to lead the furling line towards the cockpit: fewer blocks means less friction.
Boom section
Open boom section: allows easy fitting of the sail, avoids friction on the edges - a disadvantage of other systems with semi-closed boom profiles, allows the sail to be inspected from the deck to ensure correct furling, and allows access to the main mechanical components.
Luff extrusions
Are articulated behind the mast. The bottom end of the luff extrusion is connected to the top of the boom, allowing it to rotate with the boom. Whatever the angle of the boom with the boat, the sail and the luff extrusions are always in perfect alignment, this dramatically reduces luff tape friction and wear. Transferring the sail from the luff extrusion into the boom (reefing or furling), or from the boom into the luff extrusions (hoisting) is much easier than with other systems. This device is unique because it does not require the boat to be head to wind before operating the system.
